BMIC 2026 Preview: 16 Teams Fight for Two PMGC Spots in Mumbai

Battlegrounds Mobile India International Cup 2026 (BMIC 2026) puts 16 squads from India, South Korea and Japan on one stage at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai from October 30 to November 1, and only two of them leave with a ticket to the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2026 (PMGC). The champions enter PMGC 2026 through The Gauntlet, while the runners-up are placed into the Group Stage.

BMIC is the international tournament series of Battlegrounds Mobile India, and the 2026 edition is its second organized by KRAFTON, with Tesseract Esports also listed as an organizer. It is an offline event with a prize pool of ₹1 crore (₹10,000,000, roughly $105,301), and the official poster carries Road to Global Championship branding alongside KRAFTON India Esports.

Two PMGC places, two different entry points

The allocation is what gives this event its weight. The champions go into PMGC 2026 via The Gauntlet and the runners-up into its Group Stage, so the two qualifiers will begin the global event at different stages. That makes the order at the very top matter beyond the trophy, because first and second place are not interchangeable.

The allocation lists no PMGC place for third or fourth. For every squad outside the top two, the weekend is therefore about prize money and standing. The prize table shows four placements, but team names and per-place amounts have not been filled in yet, so how the ₹1 crore will be split is still open.

Six Indian squads, five Korean, five Japanese

India supplies the largest single contingent: six teams, all of them coming through the 2026 BMSD. South Korea sends five, with two arriving through 2026 KEL and three through 2026 PMPS S2. Japan's five all come from 2026 PMJL P2.

Japan52026 PMJL P2Valor, REIGNITE, Versus, Making The Road, Kinotrope Gaming

The numbers show how lopsided the field is in one direction. Six of the 16 places belong to Indian teams, so the home bloc is the biggest but still a minority against ten visiting squads. The Korean group is also the only one assembled from two separate competitions. How the five Korean teams split between KEL and PMPS S2 is not specified, so the table does not assign them.

The event page attaches no groups or bracket and does not publish seeding. All 16 teams play the same 18-game Grand Finals, so nothing separates the field before Game 1.

18 games, six per day, and a steep points scale

Matches are played as squads in third-person perspective (TPP), with six games per day across the three days. The published map rotation covers one six-game block: Rondo in the first game, then three games on Erangel and two on Miramar. That is the same size as each day's schedule, so every squad will have to prove itself across all three maps.

9th-16th0

Each finish adds one more point on top of placement. The scale rewards first place heavily: a squad that finishes second needs four more finishes than a winner just to draw level in that game. Placements from ninth to sixteenth earn nothing, so for half the lobby finishes are the only way to score in a given game. A team that wins games and finishes late can still lose ground to one that survives deep with a steady stream of finishes, and the points table sets up exactly that tension over 18 games.

Ties in the overall standings are settled in a fixed order:

  1. Total WWCDs (winner winner chicken dinner, the game's name for a first-place finish) across all games.
  2. Total placement points.
  3. Total elimination points.
  4. Best placement in the most recent game.

A tie at the top or around second place, where the more valuable Group Stage spot is decided, would therefore go to the squad with more wins. This favors the team that wins outright over the one that scores steadily.
