Karmine Corp Sweep MVK 3-0 to Reach Worlds 2026 Play-Ins Final

Karmine Corp beat MVK Esports 3-0 in the upper bracket final of the League of Legends World Championship 2026 Play-Ins on October 16, becoming the first team to secure a place in the Play-Ins final. The LEC side is now one win away from the Swiss Stage.

The series was played at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. It was far less stressful than KC's 3-2 win over Cloud9 a day earlier, which makes this sweep the cleaner of their two Play-Ins results so far.

Why the result matters

MVK, the LCP representative, arrived as the youngest team at Worlds 2026, with an average age of around 21. They had already beaten CBLOL's FURIA 3-0 earlier in the Play-Ins, which made them a live threat in the upper bracket.

KC's win puts them in the Play-Ins final and leaves MVK to take the lower-bracket route. Cloud9 and FURIA meet next, and the loser becomes the first team eliminated from Worlds 2026. The winner then plays MVK for the right to face KC in the final.

Game 1: laning decides it early

KC took control in the early game. Caliste's Draven and Busio's Nautilus won a double kill in a level 3 2v2 fight, which broke the balance of the bot lane. In the solo lanes, Kyeahoo (Kang Ye-hoo) on Syndra and Canna (Kim Chang-dong) on Jayce took lane priority and used it to build a lead. Yike's Vi supported them by steadily securing objectives.

MVK found kills through bot-jungle plays, but the gap from the laning phase kept widening. Kyeahoo's CS lead in mid lane passed 50, and by around 26 minutes the top side alone was more than 7,000 gold ahead. KC took the game without facing a real crisis.

Game 2: MVK gamble, KC answer

MVK substituted jungler Gury for SanSan, a 19-year-old who had not played competitively since May. They then drafted top Twisted Fate and mid Rumble. The early game became the brawl MVK wanted, with SanSan's Qiyana intervening in lanes and reaching 3/0/3 quickly.

KC dealt with the well-farmed Qiyana, and the turning point came in the teamfight over MVK's third dragon. KC's damage dealers swept up kills and reversed the global gold deficit. MVK stole a surprise Baron at a good moment, but their composition had already lost its power. KC closed the game with a major win in the next Baron teamfight.

Game 3: Kog'Maw falls short again

MVK went back to mid Kog'Maw, the pick that had worked against FURIA. Against that FURIA series, Võ "Chika" Lê Nhân's Kog'Maw reportedly set the record for the highest damage per minute by a midlaner in Worlds history. This time Kyeahoo's Viktor kept lane priority and pressured it, and Yike's Jarvan IV helped hand the Kog'Maw three deaths.

Canna added a moment of his own. His Kennen dodged a gank and turned a 1v2 into a kill. KC took Baron at 21 minutes and led by more than 8,000 gold.

MVK did not fold. They shut down Kennen and Viktor in succession and used their poke to steal a Baron during a teamfight. KC then baited MVK onto the Elder Dragon and backdoored to end the series.

MVK's macro problem

MVK appeared to have little interest in macro play, and basic wave management was ignored on multiple occasions, which stunned the broadcast. Their fighting kept them in games, but it could not offset the lane gaps and KC's decision-making.

What happens next

KC are heavy favourites to advance from the Play-Ins, and they know their route: the Play-Ins final, with a Swiss Stage spot on the line. Their next match is set for October 18, and the opponent is decided by the Cloud9–FURIA elimination match and the MVK series that follows.

MVK still have a path to the Swiss Stage through the lower bracket.
