FlyQuest Sweep RED Canids to Reach Demacia Cup Knockouts After Surviving 0-2 Gauntlet

FlyQuest have reached the knockout stage of the 2026 Demacia Cup Global Invitational. The LCS side opened the event with two defeats and then won three consecutive series in the space of two days. After clearing a three-team elimination group on October 7, they swept RED Canids 2-0 in the Round 4 qualifier on October 8 under Fearless Draft.

The run is a reversal of the tournament's early script. FlyQuest lost to LGD Gaming and NAVI to start the Swiss Stage, which put them in the 0-2 pool. That pool is unforgiving: teams on 0-2 in Round 3 play a round robin, and only the winner continues.

How the 0-2 group played out

FlyQuest, Shopify Rebellion and GAM Esports met in a best-of-three round robin on October 7. The table covers that group only, not the full Swiss Stage.

FlyQuest 2-0 GAM: early errors decide it

FlyQuest opened against GAM Esports and swept them. The two games ended in 22 and 26 minutes. According to Sheep Esports' account, GAM's early overextensions repeatedly handed FlyQuest leads, and by the 20-minute mark of game two FlyQuest held soul point.

Jungler Johnson "Gryffinn" Le set the tone with MVP honors on Wukong in the opener and Cho'Gath in the second. Song "Quad" Su-hyeong's Orianna gave the team reliable zoning, and FlyQuest controlled objective setups throughout.

Shopify Rebellion 2-0 GAM: the decider is set

Shopify then swept GAM in games lasting 31 and 36 minutes. Game one turned on a single mid-lane wipe that opened the base. In game two, Shopify combined a support Amumu pocket pick with farmed Olaf and Ezreal. The result ended GAM's tournament without a game win and set up an all-LCS decider for the only Round 4 place.

FlyQuest 2-1 Shopify: Shyvana closes it

FlyQuest took the opener behind a 10,000 gold lead at 25 minutes. Shopify answered in game two with four dragons and Baron Nashor, leaving FlyQuest one game from elimination.

In the decider Shopify faltered early against aggressive invades. Gryffinn took over on a 6/0/7 Shyvana and earned his fourth Swiss Stage game MVP, the most of any player at the end of that day. The award is given per game, not as a tournament MVP. The win also reversed FlyQuest's exit from the LCS Summer playoffs, where Shopify had eliminated them.

Round 4: RED Canids swept, Beijing next

The Round 4 qualifier was FlyQuest's third series-win of the gauntlet and another 2-0. The materials supplied include no game-level detail from the match, but the outcome is clear: RED Canids exit the tournament.

FlyQuest join six teams already through to the knockout stage:

  • KT Rolster
  • BNK FEARX
  • Team WE
  • HANJIN BRION
  • LGD Gaming
  • Vitality

The eighth and final place goes to the winner of NAVI vs JD Gaming. The loser is eliminated.

What comes next

The knockout stage runs October 12-15 and October 17 at the Beijing JD Esports Center. Eight teams will play a single-elimination bracket of best-of-five series. The event is open to 12 teams that missed Worlds 2026.

FlyQuest now face a format change: after three best-of-three series in two days, every remaining match is a best-of-five with no second chance. Gryffinn's form as the group's standout will be the thing to watch when the bracket begins.
